Los Tumpolos (spelling also Los Tumpolòs) is a rock-pop band from Hanover .

Band history

Los Tumpolos was founded in 1992 by the singer and actor Michael Westphal, the bassist and music producer Jens Bernewitz (formerly a member of Steinwolke and Mini Pigs ) and the drummer Dominic Dias (also Steinwolke and Mini Pigs).

After starting out as a cover band, the first CD When everything looks plate to everyone was released in 1994 with its own songs.

The following year the NDR discovered Los Tumpolos. For example, an open air on the Badeinsel in Steinhude was broadcast live on NDR 2 as a radio concert in August 1995 , a concert in Travemünde was recorded by NDR television and the single Magical Ways was used on the transmitter.

In 1996 the second CD, Lonely Planet , was released by the SPV record company with the single Universe .

The musicians reached a high point in their band history with their appearance on February 7, 1998 in Jamaica , where they, together with Lauryn Hill and Ziggy Marley , performed in front of 15,000 spectators at the Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Ocho Rios . To this day, Los Tumpolòs are the only German band that has played at this festival. In addition, the third album was released in 1998 with the title Look .

After that, the band went quiet for a few years. Only in 2004 did the musicians return with the single Solitude in Memories , still with the same line-up , and in 2006 the band recorded the album fly again ... in the Noah studios in Hanover . In May 2006 they played at the season finale of Hannover 96 in front of 48,000 spectators in the AWD-Arena in Hannover and rocked in July as an opener for Peter Maffay at the open-air festival Pop im Park im Heide-Park in Soltau .

In 2010 Los Tumpolos signed a band takeover contract with DA-Music (Sound Guerilla label). The two albums fly again ... and Look were remastered and released again.

Furthermore, two new radio singles were released in 2011 with the titles And this is the moon and Music .
