occupation

Lost Transmissions is a film drama directed by Katharine O'Brien that premiered on April 28, 2019 at the Tribeca Film Festival .

action

Songwriter Hannah finds out that her boyfriend, respected record producer Theo Ross, is no longer taking his schizophrenia medication. Thereupon, together with some friends, she tries to place Theo in a psychiatric facility. Theo was a member of one of the craziest bands of the 1990s and later promoted young bands whose music he recorded in his studio at his home in Los Angeles. Theo thought it was a shame to live with a filter because of the medication he had to take, as this especially blocks a creative person at work.

production

Katharine O'Brien directed and wrote the screenplay.

The film music was composed by Hugo Nicolson . The soundtrack album, which includes a total of 13 pieces of music, including Goodnight Not Goodbye by IO Echo, was released for download by Lakeshore Records in mid-March 2020.

The film was shown for the first time on April 28, 2019 at the Tribeca Film Festival in the Spotlight Narrative section. In June 2019 a screening took place at the Shanghai International Film Festival . On March 13, 2020, it was published as VOD in the USA.

Reviews

The Hollywood Reporter's John DeFore notes that occasional acquaintances who do not understand the severity of an illness may inadvertently cause major problems when trying to help. Lost Transmissions is a hopeful, but not too tidy film that tells its story without dealing with stupid clichés about creativity and madness.
