Tao Okamoto

Tao Okamoto ( Japanese 岡本 多 緒 , Okamoto Tao ; born May 22, 1985 in Chiba Prefecture ) is a Japanese model and actress . She also appears under the stage name Tao .

Life

Tao Okamoto was born in Chiba Prefecture in 1985 and started modeling as a teenager. In 2006 she moved to Paris , where she worked as a model for Alexander Wang , Chanel , Dolce & Gabbana , Fendi , Louis Vuitton , Michael Kors , Miu Miu , Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent, among others . In 2009 she settled in New York City .

She was best known for her unusual bowl haircut. Her look has been copied by numerous models and designer Phillip Lim - inspired by Okamoto - had all models walk with this hairstyle at his fall / winter 2009 show. As a result, she received numerous other assignments and modeled for Dolce & Gabbana with Mario Testino , Emporio Armani by Alasdair McLellan, Kenzo with Mario Sorrenti and Tommy Hilfiger with Craig McDean, among others .

This was followed by photo series for iD , Harper's Bazaar and Vogue, among others . The November 2009 issue of the Japanese Vogue Nippon was exclusively dedicated to her and contained a cover photo and other exclusive photos. In 2010 she was named one of eight “Women of the Year” by Vogue Nippon.

In 2013 she made her debut as an actress in the comic book adaptation of Wolverine: Weg des Kriegers in the role of Mariko .
