Lothar Franz Knebel von Katzenelnbogen (born July 9, 1700 in Mainz , † October 29, 1749 ) was vicar general and governor in Worms .

Life

Lothar Franz Josef Knebel von Katzenelnbogen, imperial baron since 1710 , came from the Middle Rhine noble family of the Knebel von Katzenelnbogen and was the tenth of the 15 children of the Mainz Electoral Council and (from 1701) Court Marshal Philipp Christoph Knebel von Katzenelnbogen († 1714) and Eva Maria Franziska Waltbott von Bassenheim, Freiin zu Olsbrück († 1752) born. The family was closely connected to Kurmainz and Lothar Franz was named after the Mainz Elector Lothar Franz von Schönborn (1655–1729). The father Philipp Christoph was elevated to the status of imperial baron by Emperor Joseph I in 1710 . Philipp Christoph's brother Johann Anton I. Knebel von Katzenelnbogen (1646–1725) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1705 to 1725.

Lothar Franz became domicellar in Speyer in 1718 , in Worms in 1722 , and shortly afterwards there also cathedral scholaster . On April 17, 1735 he was ordained a deacon . Additional canons in Bruchsal - Odenheim ( Hochstift Speyer , Stift Odenheim ) and at St. Alban before Mainz were added. He later became dean at St. Alban . He was electoral Mainz councilor, imperial councilor and president of the imperial knighthood in Ortenau . On May 28, 1734, the Worms Bishop Franz Georg von Schönborn appointed him vicar general. On August 20, 1743, the cathedral chapter appointed him governor in secular affairs.

He died on October 29, 1749 and was buried in the family inheritance in St. Quintin in Mainz .
