Ludwig Hetsch
Carl Ludwig ("Louis") Friedrich Hetsch (born April 26, 1806 in Stuttgart , † June 28, 1872 in Mannheim ) was a German composer .
Life
Hetsch studied at the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen, had been the choirmaster of the Stuttgarter Liederkranz since 1831 and then went to Vienna for further musical training . From 1836 he was university music director in Heidelberg and from 1846 court music in Mannheim. He was a composer of sacred and romantic songs . He had a lifelong friendship with the poet Mörike , whose poems he set to music. Mörike dedicated his novella to Hetsch on the trip to Prague (1855). Of his stage works, the romantic opera Ryno was premiered at the Stuttgart Court Theater in 1833 . Hetsch was the son-in-law of the educator Karl August von Zoller .
