Louis Hoffmeister (also: Ludwig Hofmeister ; * July 20, 1814 in Karlsruhe ; † July 14, 1869 there ) was a grand ducal court of Baden - copper and steel engraver.

Life

Louis Hoffmeister learned the handicraft in Carl Ludwig Frommel's studio for steel engravers. He worked in Karlsruhe and Munich between 1830 and 1850 .

Works (selection)

  • The University of Salzburg acquired in 1935 a drawing of Louis Hoffmeister entitled Salzburg from Capucinerberg from that of Johann Poppel was stung by 1840 in steel.
  • On a postcard there were engravings by him with the title Carlsruhe. The Gothic Tower. See lever's monument . These views also appeared in a volume with views of the Grand Duchy of Baden.
  • For the funeral of the Grand Duke (Karl Friedrich) Leopold von Baden , at whose court he worked, he made a folder with three memorial sheets in 1852.
