Luc Julian Matthys
Luc Julian Matthys (born May 3, 1935 in Drongen , Belgium ) is Bishop Emeritus of Armidale .
Life
The Bishop of Johannesburg , Hugh Boyle , ordained him on December 2, 1961 . He was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Melbourne in 1976 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Armidale on March 17, 1999 . The Archbishop of Sydney , Edward Bede Cardinal Clancy , ordained him episcopal on May 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Francesco Canalini , Apostolic Nuncio to Australia , and Kevin Michael Manning , Bishop of Parramatta .
On December 7, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Luc Julian Matthys for reasons of age.
