Lucas Silva Borges (born February 16, 1993 in Bom Jesus de Goiás ) is a Brazilian soccer player . He was most recently under contract with Real Madrid and was loaned to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . Silva is currently without a club.

Career

Beginnings in Brazil

Lucas Silva came to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte at the age of 14, and went through the youth teams of the latter. At the beginning of 2012 he was loaned to the Nacional Esporte Clube in Muriaé in order to gain his first professional experience at the Campeonato Mineiro . He came to a mission. In the summer of 2012, he returned to Cruzeiro to be used eight times in the second half of the Brazilian championship .

In the 2013 championship season, the defensive midfielder was featured 23 times, 19 of which he was in the starting line-up. He scored two goals to win the championship with Cruzeiro. In the 2014 season he defended the title with the team.

Change to Europe

On January 26, 2015, Silva moved to the Spanish Primera División for Real Madrid . He signed a contract with the record champions running until June 30, 2020. On February 14, 2015 he played against Deportivo La Coruña for the first time in the league. He made his Champions League debut in the first leg of the last 16 in a 2-0 win against Schalke 04 on February 18, 2015.

Silva was loaned to Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1 on August 27, 2015 until the end of the 2015/16 season. There he came to 22 league appearances without scoring his own.

In the summer of 2016, Silva was to be loaned to Sporting Lisbon for a year in Portugal . During the medical check, however, a heart defect was diagnosed, whereupon the change did not take place. As a result, there was speculation that Silva would end his career. Upon further examination, heart problems were ruled out.

Back to Brazil

On January 31, 2017, Silva returned to his old place of work in Brazil. Real loaned the player to Cruzeiro until June 30, 2018 . 10 percent of the monthly salary payments of 600,000 Real to Silva by Real were taken over by Cruzeiro . He had also had offers from other Brazilian and European clubs, but he thought his return would be the most sensible decision. In the 2017 season , Silva won the national cup with Cruzeiro . At the end of the loan in June 2018, Cruzeiro entered into negotiations with Real Madrid to extend the loan on the same terms. Real contradicted this offer and wanted a full salary payment from Cruzeiro in the future . At the beginning of July 2018, Cruzeiro and Real agreed to extend the loan by one year until June 30, 2019. The new contract stipulated that Cruzeiro would take over 50 percent of the salary payments in the future, thus a sum of 300,000 Real per month. Furthermore, the contract should contain a clause that guarantees that Silva will play at least 50 percent of the possible competitive games. Real Madrid had hesitated to sign a new contract because they were still waiting for offers from European clubs. Celta Vigo is said to have been an interested party. On June 26, 2019, Cruzeiro announced that Real Madrid could not agree to renew the loan.

End at Real Madrid

Originally, Silva wanted to sign a new contract with Gremio Porto Alegre , but the club was unable to agree on the modalities of a loan deal with Real Madrid. On September 3, 2019, the contract with Silva was terminated by mutual agreement. At the beginning of January 2020, Grêmio Porto Alegre announced the commitment until the end of 2024.

National team

Lucas Silva was part of the U21 team that won the Toulon tournament in 2014. He scored one goal in four games. An appointment to the senior squad has not yet taken place.
