Lukas Taccius

Lukas Taccius , also Lucas Tacke (* 1552 in Stettin , † October 7, 1612 ) was a German teacher . From 1582 until his death he was the rector of the Greifswald council school .

Life

Lukas Taccius was born in Szczecin . In addition to the Latinized Taccius , the name forms Tagghe , Tacke and Takko were also used for the name of his family ; he himself appears in modern literature in the spelling Lucas Tacke . He attended the Greifswald council school as a pupil and then studied at the University of Greifswald . From 1574 to 1580 he worked as a teacher in Greifenhagen , Rostock and Pasewalk .

In 1582 he became rector of the Greifswald council school and remained so until his death. Under his successful leadership, the school grew to 300 students. The Pomeranian Duke Philipp Julius also held Taccius in high esteem.

He was married to Katharina Temel, the widow of the Greifswald physician Franziskus Joel , who died in 1579 .
