Ludolf Wedekind von Uslar (born January 3, 1867 in Nützen , † July 28, 1939 in Hamburg ) was a German naval officer , most recently vice admiral .

Life

origin

He came from a branch line of the Lower Saxon noble family von Uslar . By the highest cabinet order of August 15, 1908 with a diploma of November 13, 1908, the descendants of his grandfather Ludolf von Uslar (1787–1862) living in Prussia were set as the spelling of the surname "von Usslar".

Military career

Uslar joined the Imperial Navy as a cadet on April 11, 1885 and completed his basic training on the training ship SMS Niobe . Then Uslar attended the naval school from October 4, 1885 to April 7, 1886. He then completed special courses for three weeks and was appointed midshipman on April 13, 1886 . For further training, he served on the cruiser frigates SMS Prinz Adalbert and SMS Gneisenau . During a course that lasted from March 31 to May 27, 1888, Uslar was promoted to lieutenant at sea on May 18, 1888 , then transferred to the ironclad SMS Württemberg and was at the naval school for the last time until September 30, 1889. He then came to the II. Torpedo Department as a company officer and was also deployed here as an officer on watch on the D 5 torpedo division boat . Uslar then worked in the same function on the ironclad SMS Preußen before he left for Shanghai in February 1891 . Here Uslar was until mid-June 1883 as a deck officer on the East Asia Squadron belonging gunboat SMS Iltis and has since 16 June 1891 Ensign promoted. As such, he returned home on the Neckar steamer at the beginning of August 1893 and was initially made available to the Kaiserliche Werft Wilhelmshaven . From 1907 to 1910 he was head of the section for mobilization matters in the general naval department of the Reichsmarinamt . Then Uslar was transferred to the large cruiser SMS Gneisenau as commander. In 1915/16 he was employed as chief of staff in the German Baltic Fleet . On April 30, 1918 Rear Admiral Uslar took command of the special unit of Finland as Commander in Chief of the Baltic Waters from Rear Admiral Hugo Meurer .

After the war, Uslar stand of 20 November 1918 to 7 April 1919 the disposal of the Chief of the Naval Station of the Baltic Sea and was then used to disposition made. From June 1, 1919 to June 30, 1933, he then acted as Reich Commissioner at Seeamt Hamburg and on September 4, 1919 received the character of Vice Admiral. The patent for this rank is awarded Uslar on 21 June 1920th

Uslar married Erna von Monbart, widowed Ruscombe, in 1900. She was a sister of Helene Kessler .
