Ludolf von Wedel-Parlow

Ludolf von Wedel-Parlow (born January 17, 1890 in Kassel , † December 13, 1970 in Heiligkreuzsteinach ) was a German literary scholar.

Life

Ludolf von Wedel- Parlow was a son of the administrative officer Moritz von Wedel-Parlow and Ottonie Malcolm, a granddaughter of the naval officer Charles Malcolm . He attended an elementary school in Köslin and the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Kassel until he graduated from high school in 1911 . After completing an agricultural apprenticeship, he joined the Dragoon Regiment No. 5 in Hofgeismar as a one-year volunteer in 1913 , with whom he took part in the World War, most recently as a first lieutenant. He finished his German studies in Munich in 1924 with a doctorate in 1927 . In 1928 he received his habilitation for modern German literary history at the University of Würzburg , where he then taught as a private lecturer at the philosophy faculty. During the Second World War , he did military service again as a cavalry master until his UK position in 1942.

Since 1934 he was the owner of the Polßen manor in the Uckermark and in 1941, as heir of his brother Christian-Otto, he also took over the Neuperstein manor in Bohemia . He had been a private scholar since the expropriations in 1945 and lived in Heiligkreuzsteinach, as he did after the First World War.

In his 1915 marriage to Maria Freiin Stockhorner von Starein, a granddaughter of the theater director Alfred von Wolhaben , he had four children. Since 1930 he was married to Afra Freiin von Dungern, a daughter of the hunting writer Otto von Dungern-Oberau . One of three sons from this marriage is the economist and author Wolf Christian von Wedel Parlow .
