Ludovico Costa

Ludovico Francesco Costa, conte della Trinità (born February 17, 1699 in Asti , Italy , † 1772 in Pinerolo , Italy) was a general and viceroy of the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont .

Life

Costa was initially intended for a spiritual career, but then took a career as an officer . In 1748 he became a colonel and commander of the Dragoni di Piemonte cavalry regiment . As Major General and Viceroy, Costa was in Sardinia from 1763 to 1767 , where he reorganized the two universities of Cagliari and Sassari, among other things . In addition, he promoted the Italian language in administration and culture on the island as well as economy and trade through a few targeted measures. In 1767 Costa became governor of Pinerolo and also inspector general of the cavalry, and in 1771 he was finally lieutenant general .
