Ludwig Anton von Wechmar
Ludwig Anton von Wechmar (* July 20, 1712 at Gut Wenigenschweina in Saxony-Meiningen ; † August 29, 1787 at Gut Zedlitz in the Steinau district) was a royal Prussian colonel and chief of Hussar Regiment No. 6 , he was also a knight of the Pour le Mérite and hereditary lord on Zedlitz, Wenigenschweinera, Rossdorf and Vorwerk-Leipe in Silesia .
Life
His parents were the Oberamtmann von Salzungen Konrad Reinhold von Wechmar (1670-1724) and Beate Maria von Auerochs (1684-1746). At the age of 14 he joined the Hesse-Kassel Dragoon Regiment von Auerochs , which his uncle Georg Friedrich von Auerochs (born September 23, 1657 - October 31, 1731) commanded. It was stationed in Schmalkalden . In 1732 he went to the Electoral Saxon Cuirassier Regiment von Krüger and fought on the Rhine and in Poland .
In 1740 he changed to Prussian services as Rittmeister of Hussar Regiment No. 1 . In the battle of Chotusitz he was injured, but received the order Pour le Merite and became a major . Since then he has had to carry his arm in a sling. He was also able to distinguish himself in the battle of Jaromitz . In August 1746 he was made a colonel and received the 6th Hussar Regiment . However, the regiment was in poor condition, so he asked the king for a period of four years until the first draft. This was granted to him, when the king came to the draft after four years, he was very satisfied.
When the Seven Years War broke out, Wechmar was also initially involved. On September 22nd, 1756 he fought against the Austrians near Königgrätz . In February 1757 he asked for his release because of his poor health, which he was granted. He retired to his estates, where he died in 1787.
family
He was married to Auguste von Witzleben (1720–1783) from the Wolmirstedt family since 1739 . She was the daughter of Hartmann Ludwig von Witzleben (1676–1735) and Franziska Katharina Florentina von Geiso . After her death he married her sister Sophie von Witzleben (1722–1797). He had numerous children.
