Ludwig Crophius

Ludwig Crophius, Edler von Kaisersieg OCist (born September 14, 1792 in Graz , † April 24, 1861 ibid) was an Austrian Cistercian and 45th abbot of Rein Abbey .

biography

The Crophius family originally came from Augsburg . From April 9, 1823 until his death he was abbot of Rein Abbey . He was a close friend and collaborator of Archduke Johann of Austria . Crophius was a doctor of theology and taught as a professor in Salzburg and Graz . He was also the curator of the Joanneum in Graz, as well as the director of studies of the technical schools that later became the Technical University of Graz . Crophius was elected prelate in the Styrian state parliament for more than 30 years .

He was a member of the Kk Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft and an honorary member of the Graz Music Association .
