Ludwig Heim (physician)
Ludwig Heinrich Wilhelm Heim (born February 13, 1857 in Eichstätt , † February 5, 1939 in Erlangen ) was a German physician and professor of hygiene .
Life
Heim studied medicine at the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen . In 1877 he became active in the Onoldia Corps . After a stay at the Reich Health Office under Robert Koch and Georg Gaffky , he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1881 he was licensed as a doctor .
In 1884 he worked in preparation for the physics exam at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute in Munich. In 1890 he completed his habilitation at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg for hygiene. From 1897 until his retirement he was full professor for hygiene at the University of Erlangen and director of the local hygienic-bacteriological institute.
From 1881 to 1897 he served as a military doctor in the medical corps of the Bavarian Army . In December 1918 he was appointed senior general doctor à la suite .
