Ludwig Klüpfel
Ludwig Klüpfel (born November 27, 1843 in Tübingen ; † December 10, 1915 in Stuttgart ) was a German lawyer and business manager who stood out in particular as a social politician.
family
He was the son of Karl August Klüpfel and Sophie Klüpfel nee Schwab. In 1882 he married Elisabeth nee Baur († 1891). With her he had a daughter and four sons, two of whom died in infancy.
Life
After graduation in Tuebingen Ludwig Klüpfel attended the seminar in Blaubeuren and then studied at the University of Tübingen Eberhard Karls law . In 1867 he joined the Wuerttemberg judicial service as a court actuary and in 1870 joined the Royal Wuerttemberg State Railways as a financial assessor . In 1877 he switched to the Krupp company in Essen as an office worker . There he rose in 1881 to authorized signatory and then to deputy chairman of the board of directors. He joined in 1910 in the retirement , but remained until his death a member of the Supervisory Board . From 1901 to 1910 he was a city councilor in Essen and at the same time a member of the provincial parliament of the Rhine Province .
As an important decision maker for the Krupp company, he belonged to a number of influential associations. He was a board member of the association to safeguard common economic interests in Rhineland and Westphalia . Furthermore, he was a board member of the Northwest German Group in the Association of German Iron and Steel Industrialists and a member of the Association of German Ironworkers and the Essen branch of the German Colonial Society .
A particularly important concern for Klüpfel was the protection of employees . As head of the Krupp company's own welfare facilities, he achieved numerous improvements in the area of occupational safety and in-house health care. He pursued his goals outside the Krupp company, initially as a co-founder of the Association of Rhenish-Westphalian company health insurance funds (1904). In 1907 he was instrumental in founding the association to protect the interests of the German company health insurance funds . He also worked as a committee chairman of the state insurance company of the Rhine Province and chairman of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Hütten- und Walzwerks- Berufsgenossenschaft for the well-being of the employees and the company.
