Ludwig Meyer (born April 15, 1886 in Neustadt near Coburg , † August 11, 1957 ) was a German local politician ( SPD ). He was Lord Mayor of the City of Coburg from 1945 to 1948 .

Life

Meyer trained as a modeler and then worked in a Coburg company as an eye setter for dolls. Meyer's exact date of entry into the SPD is unknown, from 1924 to 1933 Meyer was on the city council of Coburg. After the NSDAP came to power in Coburg, Meyer was put under pressure from various sources and removed from the city council after a protective custody . Meyer was later taken to the Dachau concentration camp .

After the end of the war, Meyer was appointed Second Mayor of Coburg by the Americans on May 18, 1945. Shortly thereafter, Meyer founded the Coburg local association with other SPD members. When Eugen Bornhauser resigned as acting lord mayor on December 19, 1945 , Meyer was appointed lord mayor. Ludwig Meyer died on August 11, 1957. Today a stumbling block at Mohrenstrasse 36 reminds of him.
