Louis Schulman ( pseudonym L. Justus , born in 1814 in Hildesheim ; died 24. July 1870 in Hannover ) was a German educator , newspaper publisher - editor and - editor and Heimatdichter Jewish faith , which in the Low German language in Calenberger Platt wrote.

Life

Louis Schulman was the son of a time in Paderborn make rabbi David Levi , of the family name had accepted Schulman.

Schulmann studied philology at the University of Göttingen and then taught for some time in his home town of Hildesheim.

From 1842 he campaigned for the systematic training of Jewish primary school teachers in the Kingdom of Hanover . As a result of his efforts, a seminar for Jewish teachers was opened in Hanover on November 7, 1848.

Schulmann was the temporary editor of the newspaper Allgemeine Zeitung and Advertisements published in Hildesheim . From 1863 he published the new Hannoversche advertisements in the royal seat of Hanover . When this was merged with the Hannoversche Kurier , he kept the editorial office, which he continued until his death.

In addition, Schulmann wrote articles in the Allgemeine Zeitung des Judenthums and - under the pseudonym Justus in other magazines.
