Ludwig Seiterich
Karl Ludwig Wilhelm Seiterich (born July 5, 1904 in Karlsruhe , † July 29, 1979 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German administrative lawyer and district administrator in the districts of Waldshut and Konstanz .
Life
The son of a grand ducal court coach and brother of the later Archbishop of Freiburg, Eugen Seiterich, attended school in his home town of Karlsruhe and then studied law and political science at the universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg . He received his doctorate from the University of Freiburg in 1929.
His professional path led him as a government assessor to the district office of Karlsruhe (1930 to 1931), to the Oberversicherungsamt Freiburg (1931 to 1932) and, for a short time, to the district office of Neustadt. From 1932 to 1934, Seiterich was a councilor for the city of Karlsruhe, before he was transferred to the district office of Lörrach in 1934, first as a government assessor, then as a councilor. In 1938 he was transferred to the Emmendingen District Office, where he held a position as a government councilor until 1946, but served most of the time as a war administrator in Belgium , northern France and Italy . In the period between 1933 and 1945, Seiterich was politically discriminated against for his commitment to Catholicism.
After a short American captivity, Seiterich was released in September 1945 and returned to the District Office of Emmendingen as a provisional district administrator . In 1946 he was transferred to the Baden Ministry of the Interior in Freiburg, where he was first a councilor and then a senior councilor until 1949.
In 1949 Seiterich became district administrator in the district of Waldshut and was then district administrator in the district of Konstanz from 1954 until his retirement in 1968. For a period of five months he was also district administrator in Waldshut and in Constance.
In addition to his main job as district administrator, Seiterich had taken on numerous part-time tasks. So he was:
- Founding chairman of the regional planning association Westlicher Bodensee-Linzgau-Hegau (1957)
- Lecturer for civics at the women's class II of the Radolfzell women's college (from 1958)
- Member of the Presidium of the Baden-Württemberg District Assembly (Deputy Chairman; 1966–1968 Chairman)
- Member of the German District Assembly
- Member of the television council of the Second German Television
natural reserve
As Constance district administrator, Seiterich was strongly committed to nature conservation. The preservation of the cultural landscape was a particular concern of his, and so it is essential to him that large parts of the western shore of Lake Constance have been preserved and are freely accessible to this day. As a district administrator, he designated the landscape protection areas of Bodanrück and Höri and was significantly involved in the designation of the nature reserve Bodenseeufer, whereby he had to face fierce resistance.
