Ludwig Treplin

Ludwig Wilhelm Karl Hermann Treplin (* 14. October 1834 in Genthin , † 2. September 1924 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer, prosecutor and Senate President at the Supreme Court .

Life

He attended the Magdeburg Education Center for the Monastery of Our Dear Women until 1854 and then studied law. During his studies in 1854 he became a member of the Frankonia fraternity in Bonn . 1856 was the year he was sworn in to the Prussian sovereign and Treplin became an auscultator . In 1858 he became a trainee lawyer and in 1861 a court assessor in the higher court district . In 1866 he was appointed public prosecutor's assistant. In 1867 he was promoted to the public prosecutor in Bergen . In 1869 he was transferred to the public prosecutor's office at the Court of Appeal and was second public prosecutor there. In 1870 he became crown attorney in Aurich, 1873 in Celle, 1878 in Osnabrück. In 1879 he was appointed first public prosecutor. In 1882 he joined the Reich Attorney General as an unskilled worker. In 1883 he represented the indictment against the anarchist group around August Reinsdorf and Emil Küchler , who carried out a failed assassination attempt on Kaiser Wilhelm I on the occasion of the inauguration of the Niederwald monument . He was also a prosecutor in the 1883 trial of Józef Ignacy Kraszewski , who was accused of working for the French secret service. In 1885 he became a lawyer. In 1897 he came to the Reichsgericht as President of the Senate of the III. Criminal senate . He led the treason trial against Karl Liebknecht from October 9 to October 12, 1907. At the ceremony for the 25th anniversary of the Imperial Court on October 1, 1904, the University of Leipzig awarded him the Dr. iur. hc 1907 he became chairman of the "Association for Public Legal Information in Leipzig". In 1908 he retired.

He was Protestant. Treplin was the eldest son of the road construction inspector Ludwig Treplin, 1849-1852 member of the Second Chamber of the Prussian State Parliament . Treplin married Helene Wiarda in 1872, daughter of Christian Heinrich Wiarda (1809–1879), President of the Supreme Court in Aurich. The daughter Sophia (1874–1968) married the Saxon district court president Horst von Einsiedel -Syhra (1863–1934) in 1898 . The legal librarian Heinrich Treplin (1884-1970) was his son.
