III. Criminal Senate of the Reich Court

The III. Criminal Senate of the Reichsgericht was a ruling body of the Reichsgericht . It was one of the six senates that dealt with criminal matters . The Senate existed from 1879 to 1945.

Rules of Procedure

The Senate was responsible:

  • 1879: for criminal matters from the higher regional court districts of Braunschweig , Kassel , Celle , Dresden , Hamburg , Hamm , Jena , Kassel , Kiel , Naumburg , Oldenburg and Rostock .
  • 1896: for criminal matters from the higher regional court districts of Celle, Dresden, Hamburg, Jena, Naumburg, Oldenburg and the regional court districts of Essen and Dortmund.
  • 1931: for criminal cases from the higher regional court districts of Celle, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hamm and Kiel as well as decisions under the extradition law.
  • 1941: for criminal cases from the higher regional court districts of Braunschweig, Hamburg, Jena, Kassel, Kiel, Cologne , Naumburg, Leitmeritz and Prague as well as decisions under the extradition law.
