I. Criminal Senate of the Reich Court

The 1st Penal Senate of the Reichsgericht was a ruling body of the Reichsgericht . It was one of the six senates that dealt with criminal matters . The Senate existed from 1879 to 1945.

Business distribution

The Senate was responsible:

  • 1879
    1. for criminal cases from the higher regional court districts of Augsburg , Bamberg , Cologne , Colmar , Darmstadt , Frankfurt , Karlsruhe , Munich , Nuremberg , Stuttgart and Zweibrücken
  • 1896
    1. for the whole Reich for the determination of the competent court in the cases of Sections I and II of the first book of the StPO and of § 160 GVG.
    2. for criminal matters from the higher regional court districts of Augsburg, Bamberg, Cologne, Colmar, Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Hamm (except for the regional court districts of Dortmund and Essen), Karlsruhe, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Zweibrücken and the consular court districts .
  • 1931
    1. for the whole Reich for the determination of the competent court in the cases of Sections I and II of the first book of the StPO and in the cases of § 124 Abs. 3 SeemannsO of June 2, 1902 as well as the decisions according to § 159 GVG, together with § 18 Consular Jurisdiction Act of April 7, 1900,
    2. for criminal matters from the higher regional court districts of Augsburg, Bamberg, Darmstadt, Dresden , Frankfurt, Jena , Karlsruhe, Kassel , Cologne, Munich, Naumburg, Nuremberg, Oldenburg , Stettin , Stuttgart, Zweibrücken and the consular court districts (Section 14 No. 2 of the Act on the Consular jurisdiction of April 7, 1900 and Art. I § 14 No. 2 of the ordinance on consular jurisdiction in Egypt of July 31, 1925)
    3. the matters relating to the disciplinary court for violations of the judicial military justice officers and the involuntary transfer of the same to another position or into retirement (§§ 7ff. of the law of December 1, 1898 and the ordinance of March 29, 1922).
