Ludwig de Garnerin of Montgelas

Ludwig de Garnerin von Montgelas (born March 19, 1814 in Munich ; † January 6, 1892 ibid) was a Bavarian diplomat from the family of the Counts of Montgelas .

Life

Ludwig was the son of Maximilian von Montgelas (1759-1838), the Bavarian State Minister and founder of modern Bavaria , who had been raised to the rank of count in 1809 for his services, and Ernestine von Arco (1779-1820), daughter of Count Ignatz von Arco (1741-1812). He entered the Bavarian state services and embarked on a diplomatic career. After working in France and Stuttgart a. a. Bavarian envoy in Dresden , Hanover , Saint Petersburg and finally until 1867 in Berlin .

In 1887 he was the editor of his father's memoirs, the Memoirs of Bavarian State Minister Maximilian Counts of Montgelas , in the original French Compte rendu au roi .
