Ludwig von Eyb the Younger

Ludwig von Eyb the Younger (* 1450 in Sommersdorf ; † May 21, 1521 ) was a German court official, military leader and writer from the Frankish noble family of those von Eyb .

Life

His father was Ludwig von Eyb the elder ; his brother was Anselm von Eyb , a lawyer at the Imperial Court of Justice. In 1476 Ludwig traveled to the Holy Land and was knighted by the Holy Sepulcher in the Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulcher . His brother Anselm von Eyb took part in the pilgrimage of Count Eberhard von Württemberg to the Holy Land from May to November 1468 and received the accolade.

Between 1479 and 1486 he was court master bishop Wilhelm von Eichstätt , then he held this office from 1487 to 1499 with Count Palatine Otto II in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . From 1499 he officiated as victum Palatine Philip the Sincere in the Upper Palatinate and in this function led the Palatinate troops in the Landshut War of Succession . From 1512 to 1518 he retired to his Hartenstein Castle . Until the end of his life in 1521, he was then Grand Chamberlain to Count Palatine Friedrich in Amberg .

His most important work is the war book from around 1500 with depictions of military equipment, guns, siege techniques, etc. Ä. He documented the life of Wilwolt von Schaumberg .
