Ludwig von Kramer
Ludwig von Kramer (born May 25, 1840 in Augsburg , † January 7, 1908 in Munich ) was a German painter, illustrator and restorer .
Life
The Augsburg painter and illustrator was the brother of Joseph von Kramer and Theodor von Kramer . He did his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1857 and then worked as a teacher at the trade school in Kempten (Allgäu) and at the secondary school in Regensburg . Due to an eye problem, Ludwig von Kramer retired at an early age and devoted himself to art. He worked as a restorer in the Kornhaus and town hall in Kempten (Allgäu). He was also active in Perschen in the Upper Palatinate. In the Church of Our Women in Memmingen he restored the frescoes rediscovered in 1890. In the catalog room of the Augsburger Staatsbibliothek, Schaezlerstrasse 25, a large-format cardboard box “Augsburg in the Renaissance” from around 1870/80 is hung. In Nuremberg in 1874 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge Joseph for Unity .
Von Kramer also worked as an illustrator of children's books. He illustrated Lina Morgenstern's Hundred Stories from the Children's World , published in 1861 , but he also wrote his own.
