Luigi Antonio Bottiglia Savoulx (born February 16, 1752 in Cavour near Turin , † September 14, 1836 in Rome ) was a curia cardinal of the Catholic Church .

Life

He came from the Counts of Savoulx, was born the son of the lawyer Andrea Bottiglia Count of Savoulx, and his wife Gaspara Gotti di Salerano and received on December 26, 1791, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Bottiglia Savoulx took over the presidency of the Zecca Pontificia (Papal Mint), in 1791 he became governor of Todi .

Pope Leo XII. appointed Luigi Bottiglia Savoulx on March 13, 1826 titular Archbishop of Perge in Pamphilia Secunda . He received his episcopal ordination on April 2nd of the same year by the Prefect of the Apostolic Signature and Cardinal Bishop of Palestrina , Giuseppe Spina . As titular archbishop he took over the office of apostolic nuncio in Switzerland in the same year .

Pope Gregory XVI created Bottiglia Savoulx in the consistory of June 23, 1834 cardinal and assigned him the titular church of San Silvestro in Capite . Bottiglia Savoulx was a legate in Benevento and from 1834 prefect of the Apostolic Signature .

Luigi Bottiglia Savoulx acted as postulator in the beatification process of Queen Maria Clothilde of Sardinia-Piedmont (a born princess of France), opened in 1818, and published a biography of her as early as 1816. According to a preserved engraving, the cardinal was one of the holders of the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Mauritius and Lazarus . In 1833 he donated the remains of a Roman martyr named Valentin, which rest in an altar there, for the parish church of his home parish Cavour .

Count Bottiglia Savoulx was buried in his Roman titular church San Silvestro in Capite .
