Luigi Del Drago

Luigi Filippo Del Drago (born June 20, 1776 in Rome , † April 18, 1845 there ) was Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Del Drago studied at the Frascati seminary and was ordained a priest afterwards . In 1808 he became a canon at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore . Pope Pius VII appointed him a member of the Commission for the Administrative Reform of the Papal State in 1814 . Under Pope Leo XII. Del Drago became Prefect of the Apostolic Palace on December 15, 1828 .

In the consistory of September 30, 1831 Pope Gregory XVI took him . in pectore to the College of Cardinals , the appointment as cardinal priest and the bestowal of the titular church of San Lorenzo in Panisperna was announced on July 2nd of the following year. On July 19, 1832, Gregory XVI appointed him prefect of the Congregation for Indulgences and Relics . Cardinal Del Drago became President of the Subsidies Commission in December 1834 and Archpriest of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in June 1839 .

He died in April 1845 and was buried in the Church of San Marcello .
