Lukáš Hodboď (born March 2, 1996 in Nymburk ) is a Czech middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter run and started his career in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Lukáš Hodboď gained his first international experience in 2014 when he retired from the Junior World Championships in Eugene in the 400-meter hurdles with 52.75 seconds in the semifinals and the following year he retired from the European Junior Championships in Eskilstuna with 54.72 seconds in the first round off. In 2017 he took part in the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz over 800 meters and was eliminated there with 1: 50.72 minutes in the lead and also failed to achieve the Czech 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 10.34 minutes the final. He then reached the semi-finals at the Summer Universiade in Taipei over 800 meters, in which he was eliminated with 1: 49.40 minutes. In addition, he won the bronze medal behind the teams from the Dominican Republic and the United States in 3: 08.14 min. In 2018 he qualified for the European Championships in Berlin for the first time and surprisingly made it to the final, where he finished eighth with 1: 46.60 minutes. In 2019 he was eliminated from the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 1: 49.31 minutes in advance. He then won the bronze medal at the Student World Games in Naples in 1: 47.97 minutes behind the Algerian Mohamed Belbachir and Mouad Zahafi from Morocco. In addition, he finished fifth with the relay in 3: 06.78 min.

In 2017 and 2019, Hodboď was the Czech champion in the 4 x 400 meter relay outdoors and in 2018 and 2020 in the 800 meter run. In the hall, he became champion in the 800-meter run in 2020 and in the 4-by-200-meter relay in 2019.
