Luka Karabatic (born April 19, 1988 in Strasbourg ) is a French handball player .

Karabatic grew up in a handball family from the former Yugoslavia. His father Branko Karabatić and his brother Nikola Karabatic also played handball professionally. Luka Karabatic was said to have great talents for both handball and tennis . He first played tennis at TC Logopak Hartenholm, then finally decided to play handball at the age of 19.

The 2.02 meter long circle runner has been under contract with the French club Montpellier AHB since 2008 . On September 30, 2012, Karabatic and his girlfriend were taken into custody on suspicion of tampering with the Montpellier-Paris encounter. Then Karabatic moved on November 15, 2012 to the French club Pays d'Aix UC . Ultimately, on February 1, 2017, he and his brother were sentenced to two months probation and a fine of 10,000 euros. He has been under contract with Paris Saint-Germain since July 2015 . With Paris he won the French championship in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and the French cup in 2018.

With Montpellier he won the championship in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 and thus qualified in the EHF Champions League .

Luka Karabatic made her debut in the French national team on June 8, 2011 in the game against Argentina. In 2014 the cover specialist became European champion in Denmark. He was world champion at the 2015 World Cup in Qatar and the 2017 World Cup in France. He won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He won the bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup . He achieved all of these successes with his brother Nikola.
