Lukas Ott (born September 20, 1966 in Allschwil ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ) and sociologist. From 2012 to 2017 he was Mayor of Liestal . Since December 2017 he has been Head of Cantonal and Urban Development Basel-Stadt .

Live and act

Lukas Ott studied sociology , art history and botany at the University of Basel . As a publicist and consultant he was the owner of an office for political research and communication from 1997 to 2017.

From 1987 to 1996 he was a member of the District Administrator of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft and presided over the Judicial and Police Commission (1993–1995) and the Special Commission District Law (1992–1995). From 1992 to 2000 he was a member of the Liestal residents' council , which he chaired in 1995/96. From 1997 to 2004 he was co-president of the Association of Personnel Public Services Region Basel ( VPOD ), and in 2004/2005 he also presided over the working group of Baselbieter Personnel Associations ABP. From 2006 to 2012 Lukas Ott was a judge at the procedural court for criminal matters in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. From 2000 to 2012 he was a member of the city council and head of the education department. From 2012 to 2017 Lukas Ott was the city ​​president of Liestal and headed the finance / residents' services department. Since December 2017, Lukas Ott has been Head of Cantonal and Urban Development Basel-Stadt with the specialist departments Basics and Strategies, Housing Development , District Development and Diversity and Integration. In this role, he also heads the legislature conference and the radicalization task force. He is also a member of the Smart City Basel Wolf steering committee. Lukas Ott was a member of the working committee of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Foundation SPO Patient Protection based in Zurich. As president he led the umbrella organization “Pro Safiental” of the villages of Safien , Tenna , Valendas and Versam / GR. Since 2003 he has also been president of the Safier Ställe association, which is committed to the preservation of the Safien cultural landscape.
