Lumbini Sanskritik ( Nepali लुम्बिनी सांस्कृतिक Lumbini Sanskritik ) is a city ( municipality ) in the central Terai of Nepal in the Rupandehi district .
location
Lumbini Sanskritik is located in the fertile agricultural landscape of the Terai only about 5 to 10 km north of the border with the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh at an altitude of about 90 to 150 m above sea level. d. M. The city of Devdaha is only about 10 km (driving distance) southeast.
history
The city was created in 2014 by amalgamating a number of rural communities ( Village Development Committees ) in the vicinity of the Lumbini Development Trust : Bhagwanpur , Ekala , Khudabazar , Lumbini Adarsha , Madhuwani , Masina and Tenahawa . Lumbini Sanskritik lies on the west bank of the Dano . The urban area now covers 93.2 km².
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs, from which the city of Lumbini Sanskritik emerged, had 61,157 inhabitants (30,356 of them male) in 8331 households.
Buddhist tradition
In the urban area is the place Lumbini , which, according to tradition, is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautamas , the founder of Buddhism .
