Luregn Mathias Cavelty

Luregn Mathias Cavelty (born April 1, 1935 in Schluein , resident in Schluein) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Cavelty graduated from high school in Disentis and then began studying law at the University of Freiburg . From 1963 he worked as a lawyer (Dr. iur.) In Chur .

From 1961 to 1964 he worked in the secretariat of the Conservative-Christian-Social People's Party . In 1965 he was Landammann the circle Ilanz , and in the same year he took a seat on the Great Council of the canton of Grisons . From 1975 to 1980 he was President of the CVP Graubünden. On November 29, 1971 he was elected to the National Council; there he was active in various commissions. On June 20, 1979 he was elected to the Council of States , which he headed as President of the Council of States in 1989/90 . He was passed in the Council of States on December 16, 1994, and his successor, Christoffel Brändli , was sworn in on January 23, 1995 .

Cavelty was mainly involved in transport, tourism and the media. From 1973 he chaired Bergbahnen Disentis AG, from 1987 to 1994 Litra, from 1987 to 1998 the Graubünden Tourist Office and finally since 1997 Cuminanza Rumantscha Radio e Televisiun . In addition, he has been President of the Swiss Sponsorship for Mountain Communities since 1996 .
