Lutz Jani
Lutz Jani (born January 25, 1935 in Dresden ; † September 13, 2019 in Basel ) was a German orthopedist and university lecturer in Basel and Mannheim.
Life
Growing up in Munich, Jani studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University from 1954 . He was reciprocated in the Corps Bavaria Munich in 1955 and distinguished himself as a senior . In the meantime at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , he became a Dr. med. PhD. After two years as a medical assistant , he received his license to practice medicine in 1962 . He completed his four-year training in orthopedics with Max Lange and Nikolaus Witt . Even then he was concerned with hip dysplasia and Perthes disease . In 1969 he went to the orthopedic clinic of the University Hospital Basel as a senior physician . He completed his habilitation and in May 1973 became the head physician in the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics . On July 3, 1973 he received the license to teach . Deputy Clinic Director since 1975, he was appointed associate professor on December 9, 1980 . The Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg appointed him on April 20, 1982 to the new chair for orthopedics at the University Hospital Mannheim . In 1987 he was chairman of the 35th annual conference of the southern German orthopedists in Baden-Baden. In 1991/92 he was President of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery . In 1992 he chaired their annual congress in the Rosengarten (Mannheim) . He retired on September 30, 2000 . He was General Secretary of the DGOOC (1999–2002) and was committed to bringing together orthopedics and trauma surgery
