Margaret Lynn von der Heide-Spencer-Galanes (born June 6, 1954 in Anchorage , Alaska ) is a former American cross-country skier .

In 1976 Spencer-Galanes competed at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck over the 5-kilometer distance, but ended the competition prematurely. In her second Olympic participation in 1980 in Lake Placid , she reached 31st place over 10 kilometers. With her relay colleagues Alison Owen-Spencer , Beth Paxson and Leslie Bancroft-Krichko , she finished seventh over 4 × 5 kilometers.

Two years later, in 1982, Spencer-Galanes became national champion in cross-country skiing over 5, 10 and 20 kilometers. At the World Cup in Labrador City in 1983 she achieved her only top ten placement in a single race over 10 kilometers.

Spencer-Galanes also competed over 5, 10 and 20 kilometers at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . She finished in places 27, 40 and 33. The season with Susan Long , Judy Rabinowitz and Patricia Ross she finished in seventh place as four years earlier.

Spencer-Galanes attended AJ Diamond High School in Anchorage and then studied physics at the University of Alaska .

Spencer-Galanes was married to cross-country skier and Nordic combined skier Jim Galanes .
