Máiréad Carlin (born December 5, 1988 in Derry , Northern Ireland ) is an Irish singer and member of the group Celtic Woman .

Career

After graduating from Trinity College of Music in London, she signed a recording deal with Decca Records and recorded her debut album 'Songbook', which was released in 2014.

Máiréad was born in Derry , Northern Ireland . She said: “Derry, my hometown, is a very cultured and very musical place, wherever you turn there's always music ... That was especially true in my family ... We'd just sit around the fire, sing and drink tea - there was no alcohol involved, despite what people always think about the Irish! " (in German: My hometown Derry is a cultural and musical place where you can find music everywhere ... This is especially true of my family ... Carlin has sung for the President of Ireland, among others, and sang the Irish national anthem Amhrán na bhFiann before a rugby match between Ireland and England. Together with Snow Patrol and The Priests , she performed in 2013 at the BBC's Sons and Daughters concert as part of their hometown program as City of Culture of the Year. She also recorded 'Let The River Run' for the concert.

She toured Great Britain and Ireland with the American singer and composer Don McLean and gave a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In the spring of 2013 Carlin made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland at the National Concert Hall, which was broadcast on RTÉ One .

Celtic woman

On August 5th, 2013 it was announced on the website of Celtic Woman that Chloë Agnew would like to take a break from Celtic Woman and take care of her solo projects. On August 23, 2013 it was announced that Carlin will take her place. In her first statement she said: "I am thrilled and honored to join Celtic Woman, particularly as the first girl from the north of Ireland. I am humbled to be able to continue on their musical journey alongside Susan , Lisa and Máiréad ." (in German: I am excited and honored to be a part of Celtic Woman and to be the first member to come from Northern Ireland. I am happy to be at the side of Susan, Lisa and Máiréad.)
