The M-3 Motorway is a four-lane highway in Pakistan and a branch of the M-2 that runs from the city of Lahore to Abdul Hakim . The M-3 is administered by the National Highway Authority .
construction
Construction of the M-3 began in 1999 when it became clear that a north-south highway through the country was necessary. The highway was opened to traffic by President Musharraf in 2003 . It has a length of 230 km.
An extension of the M-3 to the south has been under construction since 2009 and will run as the M-4 past Faisalabad to Multan.

The M-3 is subject to toll in a closed toll system with cards. There are no central toll booths; Tickets must be purchased at the connection points.
The toll is 30 PKR over the full distance (as of 2010).
