The MD Elektronik GmbH is a German automotive supplier headquartered in Bavaria Waldkraiburg . The company, founded in 1974, produces various data transmission solutions for vehicles and supplies automobile manufacturers and system suppliers worldwide.

In addition to the company headquarters in Waldkraiburg, the MD Group's network of locations includes production plants in Chotěšov , Beijing and León as well as sales offices in Cologne , Seoul , Changchun , Shanghai and Southfield . The company employs over 5000 people worldwide.

In April 1974 MD Elektronik GmbH was founded under the name G.Merx Elektrotechnik in Buchbach . At the beginning, 20 employees manufactured amplifiers and mixing consoles for the music industry and supplied industrial companies with electronic circuits and pre-assembled strands.

Company headquarters in Waldkraiburg

In 1980, Buchbach moved to the industrial site in Waldkraiburg, the company's current headquarters.

With the integration into the Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH, the company was renamed MD Elektronik GmbH in 1989.

In 1993 MD Elektronik GmbH expanded for the first time and founded MD Elmont spol. sro in the Czech town of Chotěšov.

In 1994 MD produced components for the automotive industry for the first time . The first order was the production of car telephone lines.

In 2000, MD Electronics opened an in-house test laboratory in the company's headquarters.

In 2005, MD Electronics founded MD ( Beijing ) Electronics Co., Ltd. and opened a sales and production facility in Beijing, China .

In 2008, the company expanded its portfolio to include module solutions in the vehicle vision area.

In 2009, MD opened its first manufacturing facility in the United States and established MD Electronics Corporation in Jamestown, New York . Since then, coaxial and HSD cables have been manufactured on site for customers in the NAFTA region .

Since 2011, the MD Group has focused exclusively on the automotive segment . In the course of this, the company headquarters was restructured and the production network in the Czech Republic expanded with a logistics center in nearby Pilsen .

In 2012 MD Elektronik received its first serial development order for axle cabling and in the same year became a member of the OPEN Alliance .

In 2014, the company's own testing laboratory was certified by the German accreditation body (DAkkS) . Since then, the MD test laboratory has been an official certification and testing institution.

In 2015, the company expanded its network of locations with sales offices in Changchun, Shanghai and Southfield.

Also in 2015, MD Elektronik founded MD Elektronik de México S. de RL de CV and built a new plant in León, Mexico . Production started in June 2016.
