The Hergatz Station is the station of the Bavarian community Hergatz . It has three platform tracks and belongs to category 6 of DB Station & Service . The station is open daily from approximately 75 trains of Deutsche Bahn AG and the state railway operated. Hergatz station is a separation station on the Bavarian Allgäubahn (Munich – Lindau) and on the Kißlegg – Hergatz railway line .

In addition to the Hergatz train station, there was the disused Maria Thann stop and the former Wohmbrechts stop in the Hergatz community .

location

The train station is in the middle of the Hergatz district of the Hergatz community. The station building is located south of the tracks and has the address Bahnhofstrasse 4. To the south, the station is bordered by Bahnhofstrasse. To the east of the station, the main street crosses the tracks. There is a pedestrian bridge to the west. There is currently only one dirt road to the south.

history

Hergatz station was opened on October 12, 1853 with the last section of the Bavarian Allgäubahn from Oberstaufen to Lindau as part of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn . Since November 1, 1872, the opening of the section from Buchloe to Kaufering provided a continuous connection to Munich . On July 15, 1890, the line to Wangen in Württemberg was opened.

The station initially had five platform tracks and several freight tracks. There were also goods loading facilities and a goods shed. The three-storey station building was built with the construction of the Allgäu Railway and has an annex on each side. From 1970 the track systems were dismantled. The tracks for freight traffic were demolished and three platform tracks remained for passenger traffic. Each track had its own intermediate platform that was accessible via a level crossing.

In 2003 the station was modernized. The house platform was retained, but was increased to 55 centimeters. The intermediate platforms of tracks 2 and 3 were demolished and replaced by a large central platform, also 55 centimeters high. Both platforms received a roof. An underpass from the central platform to the main platform was also built. The elevator shafts were also built, but no elevators were set up, as the federal government cut funding for stations with a passenger volume of less than 1,000 people a day. However, it is planned to install the elevators with new funding in order to make the central platform barrier-free. In 2012, Deutsche Bahn sold the station building to a private owner; the Hergatz community did not want to acquire the building despite the offer from Deutsche Bahn. It was still uncertain at the time whether the station building would continue to be open to the public, it is no longer open to the public. The lane plan pushbutton interlocking system Hergatz traffic control by Lorenz, type 60 (SpDrL60), which was put into operation in 1977 and is located in the reception building, is expected to exist until the electronic interlocking in Lindau is commissioned in 2018.

Infrastructure

The station has three tracks on two platforms . Track 1 is located on the house platform and is used by trains in the direction of Augsburg , Kempten and Munich . Platform 2 is served by regional trains in the direction of Lindau and Kißlegg , the regional train line from Aulendorf to Friedrichshafen rarely runs on platform 3. All platforms are covered, but not barrier-free due to the currently missing lifts. The central platform is connected to the main platform via an underpass . All platforms of the Hergatz train station are 170 meters long and 55 centimeters high.
