The MPI Resolution is a construction ship from the British company MPI Offshore. The ship operated under the flag of the Netherlands is considered to be the first ship specially built for the construction of offshore wind farms .

history

The ship was designed by Knut E. Hansen in cooperation with Mayflower Energy, and as Mayflower Resolution under the hull number TIV-1 on the shipyard Shanhaiguan Shipyard in China built Chenwei. The keel was laid on May 20th, the launch on November 7th, 2002. The ship was completed on December 5, 2003.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by diesel-electric technology . Four AquaMaster azimuth thruster with 1.500  kW power at the stern of the vessel are driven by ABB electric motors. For electricity production, a total of six Mitsubishi - diesel generators are available, four main generators (type: S16R-MPTK-2) kW each with 1,920 power generators and two port (type: S6B-MPTA) kW each with 236 power. The main and port generators are housed in two engine rooms. A Mitsubishi emergency generator (type: 6D24TC) with 210 kW output was also installed.

In the bow of the ship, there are three Kamewa - cross-beam control systems , each with 700 kW, which are also driven by ABB electric motors.

The ship is equipped with a dynamic positioning system. It has six lifting legs, each 71.8 m long, and can work in water up to 35 m deep. The ship can be used up to a wind speed of 15.3 m / s and waves up to 2.8 m high.

The Huisman crane, which can be rotated through 360 °, is located in the stern area of the ship between the two aft lifting legs. It has two hoists, of which the main hoist can lift 600 t (with a maximum of 25 m extension) and the auxiliary hoist 30 t (with a maximum of 92.5 m extension). It can be used up to a wind speed of 20 m / s. The auxiliary crane is located on the starboard side of the ship in front of the central lifting leg. This can lift 50 t (with a maximum of 35 m extension) and can be used up to a wind speed of 16 m / s.

The deckhouse is located in the bow area of the ship. It offers space for 70 people who can be accommodated in 21 double and 28 single cabins. The permanent crew consists of 30 people. The working deck, which is located behind the deckhouse, is 3,200 m². It can be loaded with up to 10 t / m².

The ship can stay at sea for between 30 and 60 days.
