Małgorzata Baranowska (born March 15, 1945 in Krakow ; † January 22, 2012 in Warsaw ) was a Polish literary historian and critic as well as a poet . She was the daughter of the editor and translator Bolesław Baranowski .

Life

As a child, Baranowska first lived in Cieszyn and Bytom and from 1948 in Warsaw, where she attended primary music school and then high school. She made her debut as a poet in 1964 with the poem Historia, which was published in the weekly newspaper Stolica . After graduating from high school in 1964, she studied Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw . In 1966 she also worked as a technician in the astronomical observatory of the University of Warsaw. During her studies she belonged to the Zrzeszenie Studentów Polskich . After obtaining her master's degree in 1970, she was employed at the Nasza Księgarnia Publishing Institute and in 1972 at the Institute for Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences , where she worked first in the library and then as an assistant. In addition, she worked with the monthly magazine Twórczość from 1971 with interruptions until 2004 . In the 1970s she also published in Literatura, Nowy Wyraz, Teksty and Literatura na Świecie . She has been working with Polskie Radio since 1975 as a writer of radio plays for children and literary programs. She was admitted to the Union of Polish Writers in 1975 and spent the years 1975 to 1976 in France on a scholarship . After her return she wrote for Wiedza i Życie from 1977 to 1980 and for Odra from 1977 to 1983 . With the work Wyobraźnia surrealistyczna w polskiej poezji międzywojennej ( doctor's mother : Alina Brodzka ) she received her doctorate and was then employed as an adjunct at the Institute for Literary Research. In 1989 she was accepted into the Association of Polish Writers . In the 1990s she published in Kultura Niezależna, Tygodnik Literacki, Teksty Drugie and Potop and since 2001 also in Nowe Książki .
