Castle Finsterlohr is an Outbound medieval castle in Finsterlohr , a district of Creglingen in Main-Tauber-Kreis in Baden-Wuerttemberg .
history
The castle was built by the Lords of Finsterlohr and used as the headquarters. The original cell of the castle may have been within a wall that can still be seen today. The steep gorge and an exposed location protected from two sides were probably decisive for the choice of location. The castle is the starting point for the Finsterlohr settlement. After the castle was burned down by Rothenburgern in 1381, it was subsequently abandoned.
At the Romanesque fortified church of St. Margaretha, small remains of the former castle still exist.
