The castle Dittwar , and Castle Light called, is a Outbound hilltop castle at Dittwar , a district of Tauberbischofsheim in Main-Tauber-Kreis in Baden-Wuerttemberg .
history
Dittwar Castle was first mentioned in 1196 when it came to the Würzburg Monastery as a gift from Heinrich von Lauda . In the years 1245, 1369, 1371, and in the 15th century, further documented mentions of the castle were made in the course of changes of ownership. In 1631 the castle was destroyed. Parts of the castle appeared for the last time in documents in 1707.
It is possible that Dittwar Castle was in Dittwar itself. In addition, it is assumed that it was on a hill between Dittwar and Hof Steinbach , from which the Muckbachtal could be monitored. A field name indicates the possible location of the castle on the mountain to the left of the road to Hof Steinbach.
