Bettendorf Castle (Eubigheim)

The Bettendorfsche Castle , also Eubigheim Castle and Lower Castle , is a castle in Eubigheim , a district of the municipality of Ahorn in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . Today it serves as the town hall of Ahorn and is located on Schlossstrasse , in front of the abandoned Upper Eubigheim Palace .

history

The Bettendorf Castle was built in 1566 and served as the seat of the Barons von Bettendorff . Around 1770 a new building was built. From 1867 the castle served as the town hall of the old community of Eubigheim. After Eubigheim was incorporated into the new municipality of Ahorn on December 1, 1971. Since then the castle has served the Ahorn community as the town hall.

It is a two-storey angled hook building with a hipped roof and two decorative turrets.
