Abendantz Castle in Distelhausen, today a fire station

The Abendantz Palace , also known as the Abendantz mansion , the Sable Schloss Abendantz or the Old Palace , was built in the 18th century and is located at Wolfgangstrasse 8 in Distelhausen , a district of Tauberbischofsheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . In addition to the old castle , the von Zobel family built a new castle in Distelhausen with the sable castle in the 19th century .

history

The castle was built in 1758 by the wine merchant Simon Abendantz in the center of Distelhausen near the St. Markus church. The building bears witness to the prosperity that wine merchants in the Taubertal achieved in the 18th century. At that time, in the Taubertal and its side valleys - including around Distelhausen - far more wine was grown and sold nationwide.

The unadorned two-storey building now serves as the fire station for the Distelhausen volunteer fire department.
