Małkinia Górna is a village in the Ostrowski powiat of the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with around 11,800 inhabitants. The place with an area of 6.97 km² is divided into the Schulzenämter Małkinia Pierwsza and Małkinia Druga.
history
During the German occupation of Poland , Małkinia Górna belonged to the Warsaw district in the Generalgouvernement . At that time, the municipality's train station was a stopover on the Warsaw – Białystok railway line for those trains that transported residents of the Warsaw ghetto to the Treblinka II extermination camp .
During the first Treblinka trial , Josef Hirtreiter claimed that he had worked in a “Małkinia camp” where Jews were also murdered. In the course of the interrogations, however, it turned out that the camp described by Hirtreiter was Treblinka.
