When Polly is later raped by Bernie, her uncle, with whom she lives, believes that it was her own fault and throws her out of the house. Polly moves into the apartment of gangster Frank Costigan, who uses the apartment as a showcase apartment.

The unsuspecting Polly lets Frank pay her to find her attractive friends to attend parties. Polly becomes more and more successful and moves into an elegant apartment. Polly is now moving into an even more luxurious house on Park Avenue. Casey desperately wants to meet Polly and propose to her. Polly finds herself forced to tell him the truth about her living conditions. Casey is shocked at first, but soon afterwards he calms Polly down by saying that her past is unimportant. Still, she sends him away.

In the meantime, Frank has become the right-hand man of gang boss Lucky Luciano . Frank learns that prostitutes have been murdered in Luciano's name. A special investigator is targeting Luciano for this reason. Frank finds out that Luciano is innocent. The killer was killed by his own brother.
