Madeline Gier (born April 28, 1996 in Oberhausen ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Gier began her footballing career in her birthplace at VfR 08 Oberhausen and in 2008 moved to the youth department of FCR 2001 Duisburg . On April 29, 2012, at the age of 16, she made her debut in a 2-0 home win against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr in the Bundesliga, when she came on for Mandy Islacker shortly before the end of the game . A week later she made her debut in Duisburg's second team in the 2nd Bundesliga North . For the 2012/13 season , Gier and her teammate Geldona Morina moved to SGS Essen . On September 8, 2013 (1st matchday), she scored her first Bundesliga goal in a 3: 3 draw against BV Cloppenburg with the goal to make it 3: 1. For the second half of the 2015/16 season, Gier was loaned to the second division club MSV Duisburg and made it to the Bundesliga with them. After half a year and returning to Essen, she left the SGS and moved to the newly promoted Bundesliga Borussia Mönchengladbach . After Mönchengladbach's direct relegation, she signed a contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 . After moving to 1. FC Köln in the meantime, Gier signed with Regionalliga West promoted 1. FFC Recklinghausen in summer 2020.

National team

Gier made her debut for a youth team of the German Football Association on April 7, 2010, when she was substituted on in the 67th minute of the test match between the German U-15 women and the Netherlands . This was followed by missions for the U-16 national team and the U-17 juniors , with whom she missed qualifying for the U-17 European Championship in 2013 . In September 2013, Gier made his debut in a friendly against England for the U-19 national team . She made her debut for the U-20 national team on June 25, 2014 in Kiel in a 3-0 win over Denmark's U-23 team.
