Madschalli Wahbi ( Arabic مجلي وهبه, DMG Maǧallī Wahbī , Hebrew מגלי והבה; Born February 12, 1954 in Bait Dschan , Israel ) is a politician in Israel and a member of the Knesset for the Bait Dschan constituency. He is an Arab and belongs to the Druze religious community .

He studied history of Islam at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and graduated with a BA . He also studied Modern History of the Middle East at the University of Haifa , where he obtained an MA .

Wahbi served in the Israeli army . He began in a Druze infantry battalion and then went on to become an officer . He took part in the 1982 Lebanon War and later Wahbi became deputy commander of a unit in the Golan Heights . As a staff officer in the North Command, he held the rank of lieutenant colonel .

Wahbi first met the then Defense Minister Ariel Sharon in 1981 , who in 1996 - now as Minister of Infrastructure - made him his personal ambassador for Israel's neighboring Arab states, Egypt and Jordan. In 1998 he also became a political advisor in the Foreign Ministry. In 1999 he moved to the post of Director General in the Ministry of Regional Cooperation and remained in this post until 2002.

In the 2003 election for the 16th Knesset, he was elected to parliament for his home constituency as a member of parliament for Likud and was a founding member of the Kadima party after the Likud split . In 2005 Wahbi was first State Secretary in the office of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and, after the cabinet reshuffle, from June 20, 2005 in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. In the 2006 election for the 17th Knesseth, he was re-elected in his constituency. Since then he has been deputy spokesman for the Knesset .
