Magomed-Nuri Osmanowitsch Osmanow ( Russian Магомед-Нури Османович Османов . Scientific transliteration : Magomed-Nuri Osmanovic Osmanov * 6. February 1924 in Makhachkala , Dagestan ASSR , † 8. August 2015 in Chadschalmachi at Lewaschi , Dagestan ) was a Iranist and Orientalist from Dagestan. He was a professor of Iranian and Turkish philology and the director of the Institute for Islamic Studies at Dagestan State University .

He studied Iranian philology at the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University and later worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

He is one of the Fellows of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought (Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought) in Jordan and a member of the Tajik Academy of Sciences .

He translated the Koran into Russian, a publication that first appeared in 1995 and for which he received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology from President Putin in 2002 and accused of Wahhabism by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Dagestan (DUMD) has been.

His areas of interest included the history and textual criticism of Persian literature, Persian lexicography, and translation and commentary on the Koran.
