Life

The daughter of a day laborer and house butcher had eleven siblings, attended elementary school in Seestermühe from 1922 to 1930 and from 1929 secretly took private lessons from her pastor , who had recognized her talents . After finishing school, she first worked as a maid and after their wedding in 1937 with Wilhelm Brandt in his dairy shop. In 1942 she attended the technical college and passed the master craftsman's examination as a grocer .

After the Second World War , she attended the University of Hamburg as a guest student and studied German , art history and philosophy . At the same time she began to write Low German poetry and prose, which creates a tense relationship between realistic and idyllic perceptions and language images.
